a happy new year

hi all, wishing you all a very happy new year...that is till we are all annihilated  as per Nostradamus' prediction

Since 2008 is the year of doom..let us live each day as never lived before..

I have actually started to  spend a few minutes looking at the sun set and sunrise.. gaping at different hues of green in the garden and letting the wind tingle my skin  in the cold morning and not cover myself with woolens..

all these experiences and many more have made me come alive and sensitised me to  nature and people  which i had taken for granted.. Now instead of waitng to get dressed only when going out or before meeting people., i  ihave started wearing my best dresses  that i had kept ( to wear on particular occasions!!!) and putting light makeup all day long...

makes me feel good... what a beaut.. i say to myself .. joking..

any way.. long live Nostradamus.. thanks  for making me  appreciate  each day, hour  minute as it deserves..

what is love ...

A Nice Article by Swami Vivekananda...............

I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me. Once when we were
sitting at the edge of a swimming pool, she filled the palm of her hand with
some water and held it before me, and said this:
"You see this water carefully contained on my hand? It symbolizes Love."

This was how I saw it: As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow
it to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to
close your fingers round it and try to posses it, it will spill through the
first cracks it finds.

This is the greatest mistake that people do when they meet love...they try
to posses it, they  demand, they expect... and just like the water spilling
out of your hand, love will go away from you .

For love is meant to be free, you cannot change its nature. If there are
people you love, allow them to be free beings.

Give and don't expect.
Advise, but don't order.
Ask, but never demand.

It might sound simple, but it is a lesson that may take a lifetime to truly
practice. It is the secret to true love. To truly practice it, you must
sincerely feel no expectations from those who you love, and yet an
unconditional caring."

Passing thought... Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take;
but by the moments that take our breath away.....

Life is beautiful!!!  Live it !!!

who is afraid of patriotism?

WAKE -UP !!!! Why have we let our conscience slip into a state of permanent slumber? We should refuse to tolerate corruption, injustice and oppression. It is our INACTIVITY which is eating away the innards of our country. We do not want you to say that whatever little bit that you can do you are doing...we want you to say that whatever it takes, you will do it.There never were and there never will be ideal conditions. The stakes are high, we do not get another chance. Just grab this one

Here are a few one liners and quotes:
"Citizens who value their priviledges over their principles end up losing both"
"A society is in danger when those who have never learnt to obey are given the right to command."

Be proud of your country .It is because you belong to it,  that you have an identity.

the fourth new dimension....

Misconceptions about food now explained - Pay attention!!

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A : Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO ...... Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, What a ride!"

So, who is slimming anyway................

Eat right!

Make sure you get your daily dose of
fruits and veggies.

Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C.

Get plenty of exercise because
exercise helps build your immune system.

Walk for at least an hour a day,

go for a swim,

take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

Wash your hands often.

If you can't wash them,

keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.

Get lots of fresh air.
Open doors & windows whenever possible.

Try to eliminate as much stress
from your life as you can.

Get plenty of rest.

OR

Take the doctor's approach.

Think about it...

When you go for a shot,

what do they do first?
They Clean your arm with alcohol...

Why?

Because Alcohol KILLS GERMS.

So.......

I walk to the liquor store. . . (exercise)
I put lime in my Corona. . .(fruit)
Celery in my Bloody Mary. . . (veggies)
Drink on the dock . .(fresh air)
Tell jokes, laugh. . . (eliminate stress)
Then pass out. (rest)

The way I see it...

If you keep your alcohol levels up,

flu germs  can't get you!

My grandmother always said,
"A shot in the glass
is better than one in the ass!"

What nerve!!!

I feel like tearing my hair out ( what ever little is left by now ) slowly, one by one and the pain i feel is nothing....
The young squirts on the news channels on the tele really get my goat. Will some one please tell them the following things
1. They are not on the editorial board.
2 They should give us the facts of the cases
3.They are not required to make up our minds for us. In simple words , they are not required to form an opinion for us ...we can reach a conclusion without their misguidance.
All programme heads who can take out some time from their busy schedule ( partying, networking and whatever they call it now,) should send their programme anchors to a good newspaper for a crash course on REPORTING the FACTS.I do not want to be told that the 10odd people who died in an accident lost their lives due to the negligence of the Police ( even though the interview is taken of the CMO or head of hospital, and their death is due to an epidemic of sorts ) and only because the anchors are miffed that the SP of that place did not want to give his comments!!!
Please stick to reporting , we are quite capable of reaching our own lopsided conclusions without your help.
And while we are at it , we are NOT interested in MONICA BEDI and her tears. This clip should not be shown 24 hrs. Nor are we to be bored to a  semi comatose state by repeated clips  about  the drivers of some obscure actors who  nudged some pedestrians.
Gawd....The way the anchors go on and on about nothing.. and the unnecessary stress on useless inputs is sure to raise the blood pressure to alarming levels.I am thinking of suing some channels ...they need to pay the premiums on my medical policy. I DONT WANT TO DIE YOUNG, BALD and HYPERTENSIVE.
I feel ashamed and the sheer arrogance of the programme heads( who not only have low IQ levels themselves but also assume that their viewership consists of  slobbering idiots)boils my blood.Puhlease ...we are NOT ready to lap up all the insipid and  below par programmes that you shovel at us . Remember inspite of the hype about electronic media destroying the print media, the number  of people who read books and other print material is on the increase.Increasingly , you are becoming the part of the problem  rather than the solution.
